Testimonials
from satisfied Brewcrew users.
"I
recommend getting a keg if you are having a party, even if it is
a BYOB. Having a keg at the party really got people in the mood.
The lager was lovely and cold, and the very act of pulling your
own beer was a talking point of its own. The
Beer Crew were great, delivering and then collecting the empty keg
with minimum fuss. I look forward to availing of your services again
in the future."
Donal McLoughlin.
"Another
great party and as usual the kegs went down a treat."
Rory '085' O'Sullivan.
"Excellent!!
Was a very efficient and professional service - a great idea and
I will be recommending it to friends. Obviously got the whole thing
sussed and very organised - great to see."
Claire Martin.
"Kegs
and bar unit were a great success. Would recommned the set-up, and
will be in touch for a smaller party soon."
John Costelloe.

explain Jonathan Swift's "Gulliver's Travels" (ultra-condensed

[Gulliver
visits some places]
A Lilliputian: "We're small."
A Brobdingnagian: "We're big."
A Horse: "We can talk."
[Gulliver goes home]
Gulliver: "Humanity sucks. I *hate* people."

ANHEUSER-BUSCH
V. BUDVAR - THAT FAMOUS TRADEMARK DISPUTE
Anheuser-Busch
of the United States has won the latest round of the ongoing battle
with the Czech beer known in some places as Budweiser Budvar. Last
month, Stephen Burrows of Anheuser-Busch said that New Zealand's
Court of Appeal reversed a High Court decision and ordered Budejovicky
Budvar to stop importing, advertising, or selling beer under the
Budweiser name.
Burrows called
the ruling "another significant victory" after it stopped
Budvar from using the Budweiser name in Argentina, Australia, Denmark,
Finland, Spain and most recently, Italy. Anheuser-Busch, which brews
Budweiser and holds the trademark in New Zealand for the beer, claimed
the Czech brewery violated the Trademarks Act and the Fair Trading
Act by using the word "Budweiser" on its beer labels.
The Czech beer, introduced to New Zealand in 1996 as Budejovicky
Budvar, is also sold as Budweiser Budvar. Still confused? Us too.
RUSSIAN BEER
ADVERTISING CRACKDOWN
The Russian
legislature has voted to crack down on beer advertising, including
prohibiting the use of images of people or animals and banning television
commercials altogether between 5 and 10 p.m.
Ignoring Kremlin
opposition, the State Duma passed amendments to the law on advertising
in the crucial second reading by a margin of 231 to 24. The measure
must still pass a third reading, then be signed into law by President
Vladimir Putin. In addition to the blanket ban on prime-time television,
the amendments would also prohibit brewers from targeting teenagers
and using famous people in their TV and radio campaigns.
They would also
make it illegal for an ad to suggest that beer can help people raise
their social status, improve their physical or emotional condition,
or quench thirst.

What is going
on the Dublin City Seal?
The City Seal
shows the Three Castles as three watchtowers surrounding one of
the gates in the medieval City Wall. Dublin is evidently under siege;
from the central watchtower two sentries sound the alarm, while
on each flanking watchtower stands an archer, poised with a cross-bow.
The scene is
symbolic of the readiness of the citizens to defend the city, and
it was probably not intended to depict any actual event. With the
passage of time, the three watchtowers became three separate castles,
each one bearing three battlemented towers, as shown in the Coat-of-Arms.
The sentries
and archers were replaced by flames leaping from the towers on the
castles. It is often mistakenly supposed that the Castles are on
fire, but in fact the flames symbolise zeal; here they represent
the zeal of the citizens in the defence of Dublin.
Looking in more
detail at the Coat-of-Arms, we see that the Three Castles are borne
on a Shield which is supported by two female figures. To the left
of the Shield is a figure representing Law, holding a Sword erect
in one hand, and in the other an olive branch. To the right of the
Shield is a figure representing Justice, likewise holding an olive
branch in one hand, and in the other, a pair of Scales. At their
feet beneath the Shield are groups of flowers, symbolising hope
and joy.
The Coat-of-Arms
is completed by the city's motto in Latin which reads: "Obedientia
Civium Urbis Felicitas". This may be translated: "Happy
the city where citizens obey."
Where would
you get it? From Ronnie drew probably, but you can also chase up
more details at http://www.dublincorp.ie/dublinframe.html
